More Than $12 Million Worth of Meth Found In Frozen Strawberries

A semi-truck full of frozen strawberries: nothing strange about that, right? You would be wrong. This is because inside that truck there was more than sweet frozen fruit. Instead, hiding among the berries was more than $12 million worth of methamphetamines.

The truck driver was on his way from Mexico to the United States. He was caught trying to smuggle the drugs at the Texas border.

Customs and Border Protection at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility were in for a big surprise. The 42-year-old Mexican commercial driver had housed 906 pounds of methamphetamine in his truck — not just strawberries.

The amount of methamphetamine found was estimated to be worth $12,700,000 million. That is a massive amount of drugs seized. Luckily our citizens are safe from this influx.

Methamphetamine, or meth, is a stimulant drug. It comes in powdered form or a crystal rock. It can be snorted, injected, and smoked. It is one of the most dangerous substances out there.

It has a high addiction rate. It stimulates the brain and causes incredible releases of dopamine. Dopamine is the chemical in the brains reward system. It keeps people coming back for more. Meth highs are usually followed by huge crashes.

These crashes can lead to depression and irritability. People end up wanting to take meth to feel the euphoric rush again. Soon they find themselves addicted.

Meth has a lot of side effects, including paranoia and extreme cravings for the drug. It also has effects on the body. It can cause intense dental issues, skin sores, and weight loss.

Meth is popular because it can cause weight loss or give bursts of energy to those who need it. Like any highly addictive illegal drug meth is never safe in any amount. Addiction can start from the first dose.

Homeland Security is detaining the man found in possession of the methamphetamine.

This was a fantastic success for the Customs and Border Protection agents. Drug use has been increasing steadily lately. This keeps people safe and drugs off the street. It also makes drug dealers more wary about trying to smuggle into our country.

Methamphetamine is the second most commonly used drug in the United States. This is in part because it is so addictive.

Keeping this drug out of our country is a great way to help combat drug abuse.
